Violence Reduction & Trauma Prevention
One of the functions of the Cheshire & Mersey Major Trauma Network (CMMTN), as outlined in the national Major Trauma Clinical Network Specification, is the development and involvement in injury prevention programmes.
To achieve this, the CMMTN has established links with the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership (MVRP). With the support of the MVRP Health Lead, the Network has formed a region-wide Violence Reduction Working Group. This group connects hospitals across the Network to better understand regional variations in the incidence, effects, and causes of serious violence, and to develop localised strategies to address these issues.
Further information about the group can be found under the 'Network Groups' tab.
Serious violence, especially youth violence, has a significant impact on individuals, families, and communities. By making MVRP resources easily accessible on our website, we provide health professionals with the tools and information they need whether that be practical resources, training materials, or strategies to support violence prevention.

The Serious Violence Duty 2022
The Duty was created by the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 which came into effect on 31st January 2023. As a result of the Duty, 'specified authorities' have a statutory responsibility to prevent people from becoming involved in, and to reduce instances of, serious violence.

Trauma Infomed Practice
The collective acts of recognising and responding to trauma are referred to as trauma-informed practices. When organisations embed trauma-informed frameworks into how they run, they often see countless benefits as outlined in the attached guidence from the MVRP.
