The management team of the Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Network (CMMTN) consists of:

Julie Peacock
Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma and Critical Care Specialised Services Clinical Network Director
From a background in Occupational Therapy Julie has extensive NHS experience working both as a clinician and in professional and operational leadership and management positions. Since 2012 She has been actively involved in the implementation and development of clinical networks within the Cheshire and Merseyside region previously holding management and leadership roles in the Major Trauma Centre Collaborative and Rehabilitation Network.
Julie took up post in the Cheshire and Mersey Critical Care and Major Trauma networks in 2022, consolidating her passion and belief in the value of networks for facilitating collaboration and the benefits of this both for the workforce and for improving patient care.
One of Julies priorities is to focus on the development and profile of rehabilitation within both networks and in ensuring that that the contribution the whole multidisciplinary team make to achieving best possible outcomes for patients and families is valued and recognised.
Lorraine Abbott
Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma and Critical Care Specialised Services Clinical Network Administration and Project Support Office
As a graduate in business and finance Lorraine has held the position of Administration and Project Support Officer for the Cheshire and Mersey Critical Care and Major Trauma Networks since November 2022.
Lorraine has extensive experience in a variety of industries as Personal assistant at Executive level, having been employed by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool Daily Post & Echo.
Prior to joining the network, she spent 12 years within the position of Personal Assistant to the Divisional Management teams and Chief Operating Officer of The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, which enabled her to gain an understanding of the strategic and corporate functioning of NHS provider Trusts.
Lorraine is enjoying her role in supporting the network team and partaking in projects that engage professionals from across the region with the objective of sharing and improving practice for the benefit of staff and patients.
David Wilson
Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Specialised Services Clinical Network Medical Lead
David graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2002 and completed his pre-registration house jobs on the west coast. He then undertook SHO training in the North West, where he completed his Emergency Medicine (EM) speciality training in the Mersey Deanery.
Appointed as a Consultant in EM in 2011, David began his consultant career at Wrexham Maelor Hospital before moving to the Countess of Chester Hospital (CoCH) in 2013.
Before his appointment as Network Medical Lead in 2024, David served as the Countess of Chester Trust Trauma Lead for eight years. During this time, he was an instructor on various trauma courses and was responsible for reviewing and updating the Network Standard Operational Policy.
David also regularly works as a Trauma Team Leader at the Aintree Major Trauma Centre.
Calum Edge
Cheshire and Mersey Major Trauma Specialised Services Clinical Network Quality Improvement Lead
Calum Edge is the Quality Improvement Lead for the Cheshire & Mersey Major Trauma Network.
Prior to taking on this role, Calum spent eight years working as a Major Trauma Nurse Practitioner at Aintree Major Trauma Centre. In this position, he was part of a team of specialist nurses responsible for coordinating the care of major trauma patients, from their admission via the Emergency Department and inpatient care to their discharge or transfer to rehabilitation services.
During this time, he also supported in delivering KnifeSavers education and training programmes to schools, other organisations, and future trainers.
Before becoming a Major Trauma Nurse, Calum worked in emergency care nursing after qualifying as a nurse in 2006 in both Aintree and Northampton Hospitals. During this time, he developed a passion for major trauma nursing. He now applies the knowledge and skills acquired during his clinical practice as part of the Major Trauma Network, working to support staff across the region in improving outcomes for major trauma patients.
