All registered nurses who work in critical care are required to achieve the national critical care nursing competences created by Critical Care National Network Nurse Leads (CC3N).
They complete the foundation set of STEP 1 within the first 12 months of working in critcal care. They are then required to undertake a post registration qualification in critical care nursing. These programmes also incorporate National Critical Care Nursing STEP 2 and 3 Competences.
