Allied Health Professionals (AHP) group
Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) play a pivotal role in supporting the quality of care , recovery and rehabilitation of patients experiencing critical illness. CMCCN fully support the work and practices of critical care AHP’s, whose work is vital in improving patient outcomes and journey during and following critical illness.
The focus of rehabilitation is to enable people to live as independently as possible by maximising their clinical outcomes and early rehabilitation for critical care patients improves their outcome.
Patients are individually assessed and a rehabilitation programme is developed specific to their rehabilitation needs.
The Allied Health Professional roles who are part of the critical care are Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietician and Psychologists. There are also therapy assistents who help the AHP teams.
